OPOTIKI RACES.
ANNUAL MEETING
FIELDS AT TAUEANGA. TO MORROW'S ANTICIPATIONS. The annual meeting of the Opotiki Jockey Club will be held at the Tauranga racecourse to-morrow, when good fields should face the barrier in each of tho eight races. The chief events are the Opotiki Cup, 1 j miles, and the Bay of Plenty Steeplechase, 24 miles. The former hag drawn a field of 10 acceptors, and the latter nine, while eight have been paid up for the open sprint, the Farewell Handicap, b" furlongs. The arrangements for the meeting are well in hand under the capablo management of Mr. S. G. Willcock, and, given fine weather, the day should bo a successful one.
Many Thames followers of the "gallops" intend to bo present to-morrow. The following horses should run pro minently in their respective engagements:—
Novice Handicap, f> fur. —Poland, Libra, Free Advice.
Stewards' Hack Handicap, G fur Besiege, Hopalong, Queen Lu. Bay of Plenty Steeplechase, 2i miles —Emancipation, Lucidus, Golden Eng land.
Opotiki Cup, 1\ miles. —Enge, To llai, Jewelled Girdle.
Waioeka Hack Handicap, 1 mile Gay Rebel, Bonnie Song, Haile Boy.
K. S. Williams Memorial Highweight Handicap, 1 mile. —Seaman, Tuaheahc Professional.
Otara Hurdles, li miles. —Dark Prin cess, Killadar, Gadger.
Farewell Handicap, 6 fur. —Johnn; Walls, Sir Tommy, Miss Lu.
