KING OF BELGIUM

OPERATION IN LONDON. NEW ZEALAND SURGEON. King Leopold of Belgium is in a nursing home in London. He came to have a plastic, operation performed by S.r Harold Gil Hes, the New Zealand surgeon, as a result of the scars on his face and mouth caused by the tragic motor accident near Lucerne on August 29, when the Queen met her death. According to the Daily Telegraph, for some years past King Leopold has gone to Sir Harold for dental treatment, and last March he came with Queen Astrid to a Folkestone nursing home, where he was seen by Lord Dawson of Penn and Sir Harold Gillies, who made a long examination in consultation with local doctors.

Sir Harold has as his chief assistant another New Zealander, Dr. A. H. MTndoe, formerly of Dunedin.
