CONCILIATORY MEASURES. SPECIAL DISPUTE COMMITTEE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, Jan. 31. Pending discussions of conciliatory measures proposed by the Miue Owners’ Federation and endorsed by the Minister for Mines, Mr. P. C. Webb, over 900 men employed on the lluntly coalfields are still idle, It is stated that the management of the McDonald Mine is prepared to withdraw the machinery temporarily until a Disputes’ Committee, consisting of the three representatives of the employers and three union representatives, have considered the question. At a meeting of 250 miners at Huntly this morning a resolution was passed favouring submission of the dispute to a special committee.

It is understood the men will return to work pending the decision of the committee, but no final decision can be made until meetings are held in the other centres this afternoon.
