EAST TAMAKI GIRL. AUCKLAND TO WELLINGTON. IN JUST OVER FIFTY HOURS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Jan. 9. Nearly 30 hours were clipped oIT hex* own cycling time from Auckland to Wellington by Miss V. Baird, who arrived at Wellington at 8.45 a.m., taking 50 hours 33 minutes against her 79 hours 40 minutes in March, 1932. Although she had only four hours’ sleep, she looked remarkably fresh and lit. She had hoped to do the trip in 50 hours, but made a detour over the heavily-metalled SansonBulls lioad and lost about two hours which she had in hand. She said this would be her last attempt to break the record for the trip.
