Mean Theft.

“HAND THAT FED HIM.” BAD WELLINGTON CASE. RESISTED CONSTABLE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). (Received 2.3 p.m.). WELLINGTON, Jan. 9. A sentence of six months’ imprisonment ivas imposed this morning by Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., on Henry Barrett, aged 47, a butcher and labourer, fdr theft. Barrett had had several free meals at a men’s shelter conducted by the Rev. Fielden Taylor, and yesterday entered Mr. Taylor’s private quarters and' stole an attache case containing money and goods valued at £4/9/6.

Barrett had many previous convictions, besides which he violently resisted Constable Downes while being taken to Mount Cook police station, the constable being forced to wait till the arrival of a sergeant, after which Barrett was handcuffed.
