There are 930 registered dentists in New Zealand. The full register is printed in the latest “Gazette,’’ occupying 24 pages. The list includes Sir Alexander Young, former Minister -for Health, who, although many years away from his profession and engaged in farming and politics, has been appointed from a large number of highly ciualified and younger applicants as dental supervisor at the Auckland Hospital. He registered as a dental practitioner 42 years ago. Windy Weather and Rainbow. Yesterday was marked by a heavy north-west wind bringing rain-laden clouds and frequent squalls. Towards evening the atmospheric conditions were distinctly cooler with the district swept by wind at gale force. About

10 p.m., in the fretful moonlight, a rainbow south-west of the town attracted attention. It was a phenomenon that would have delighted a sailor about to embark for sea, but not an augury for fair-weather lovers on land. Galatea Settlement Promise. Speaking of the Galatea Estate, situated near Rotorua, Superintendent L. C. Alexander, of the Thames Fire Brigade, who has just returned from a visit to the district, said that this farming settlement being opened up in recent years gives promise of being highly successful. Fine Cartoon Picture. Watching the coloured cartoon, "Toyland Broadcast,” screened at a local theatre last evening, one wondered how many people present receded upon the remarkable excellence of this entertainment production. Imagination and ingenuity were reflected in every detail of snappy laugh-ter-raising situations, and, apart from the amazing skill that must have been entailed in thousands of drawings, the synchronisation of music to the action was perfect. Waihou Landing Field. It is reported that Public Works Department surveyors have been engaged during the last week or two on an- area at Waihou, near Te Aroha, which is considered suitable as a possible landing ground for aeroplanes. Whether an aerodrome will be considered necessary is not known, as it is thought that many fields will be used only as landing or calling grounds, and in' some cases will be necessary for emergency purposes when flying services have been started.
