MONTHLY MEETING. NEW POST OFFICE SITE. MR. DONOVAN WISHES TO RETIRE. The Thames Chamber ol Commerce met this morning. Present: Messrs. C. S. Donovan (president), F. Hetherington, J. Y. Cameron, F, S. Miller, C, R. Cooke, J. H. Ensor, and the secretary, Mr. J. Kernick. Electricity for Coast. The Thames Valley Power Board forwarded the details of recent canvasses regarding extension of tho power supply to the Thames Coast. It was considered the matter should be further pursued, as onco the facility was provided greater support would be forthcoming than was at present shown on paper. In this connection a committee consisting of the president and secretary was set up to deal Avith future action. The New Post Office. The secretary reported that an offer had been made by a local citizen to sell his section in Pollen Street adjoining the proposed site of the new Post Office. The offer had been forwarded to the Post-master-General but as yet no reply was to hand. Presiden* to Retire? The President stated that the annual meeting of the Chamber would be held shortly and he intimated his desire to relinquish the office of president and that of representative on the Advisory Committee. Members expressed their wish to see Mr. Donovan remain in office for a further term. It was decided that the President, Secretary and Messrs. Ensor and Hetherington be a committee to consider nominations for the ensuing year.
