BORN AT DUNEDIN. Three Girls And A Boy. FIRST CASE IN DOMINION. EVERY PROSPECT OF SURVIVAL. itJ> Tel<?grapH—Press Association). DUNEDIN, March 7. Quadruplets—three girls and a boy —were born in the Dunedin Public Hospital last night. It is believed to be the first case of its kind in the history of New Zealand. The event was known to the doctors beforehand. When the mother was admitted to hospital on February 25 an X-ray examination disclosed the position.
Although the birth was six weeks premature, the doctor said there was every prospect that the infants would survive.
The boy was born first, weighing 41b lOoz, then the girls, who weighed 41b soz, 31b lsoz, and 41b 9oz respectively. Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson the parents, were married 10 years ago and already have two girls, aged eight and six. Five years ago their third baby died when it was only three days old.
