Electricity For Coast.

POWER BOARD'S ATTITUDE. NOT SUFFICIENT REVENUE. REPLY TO THAMES REQUEST. That the Thames Valley Power Board's mains be extended to the Thames Coast settlements was a request from the Thames Chamber of Commerce before the Board's monthly meet at Te Aroha on Tuesday. The Chamber sought advice of the general requirements of the Board to enable an extension of the service as far as Tapu.

The Chamber pointed out that frejruent representations had been made by residents who desired their property to be linked up. Quite a number of new residences had been erected recently, and campers were visiting the Coast in ever-increasing numbers each summer.

The secretary-manager, Mr. R. Sprague, reported that three canvasses of the Coast had been carried out and the result indicated a deficiency of £llO per annum. The line would be erected when the revenue was sufficient to meet estimated expenditure. Detajls of the canvasses had been forwarded and the Thames Chamber was asked to comment on whether new arrivals on the Coast were prepared to take the supply.

Mr. J. McCormick suggested that another canvass should be made.

The manager considered that a decision should be deferred till a reply was received from the Chamber.

It was agreed that the Board's officers give the Chamber every assistance possible and attend meetings if necessary.
