NEWS ABOUT PEOPLE. THAMES SOCIAL ITEMS. Mrs. K. Hetherington, of Wellington, is visiting Thames. Miss B. Lawlor, Tapu, was at Thames for a few days last week. Mrs. Bruce is visiting Auckland. Mrs. C. B. Lockett has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. H. Bush spent a few days in Paeroa last week. Miss D. Knight, who has been visiting Thames, returned to Auckland last Thursday. Mrs. Berry, Parawai, entertained friends at a bridge afternoon last Thursday, the prize-winners being Mrs. F. McCullough, Mrs. H. *Bush and Mrs. A. Price. Out of the 43 nurses of the Auckland Public Hospital who sat recently for their first State examination, Miss Esma Costello, formerly of Ngatea, came third. The tennis season is- now in full SAving again, and amongst some of those who recently opened their grass lawns were Mesdames T. Miller, W. Danby, J. Liggins and C. Poulgrain. Miss Joan Coakley, of Remuera, who has been spending a holiday in Thames, has returned to Auckland.
