Kopu Stock Sale.

ANOTHER LARGE YARDING. RECORD ENTRY OF PIGS. Another exceptionally large yarding of pigs was offered by:Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., at their usual fortnightly stock sale at Kopu. on Monday, when a record entry/of 479 pigs was submitted. Competition was keen throughout and. prices. obtained compared favourably with those ruling in other centres. Good quality dairy cows and heifers were in demand, and last sale’s improved prices were maintained. Reef cattle were penned in average numbers. Competition was keen, and a satisfactory sale resulted. A good offering of yearling dairy heifers was included in the store cattle section. Satisfactory prices were obtained and the majority changed hands. Service bulls were in demand, but prices for potter bulls were low. Rough beef and store cows showed no alteration on late quotations.

Prices obtained were as follows

Dairy cattle: Best springing dairy cows and heifers made from £5/15/to £7; good, £4 to £5/10/-; others, £2/10/- to £3/15/-; inferior sorts, £1 to £2/5/-.

Beef cattle: Heavy prime fat cows and heifers, £4 to £5/5/-; medium, £2/17/6 to £3/15/-; light, £l/15/to £2/15/-. Store cattle: Fresh store cows, £1 5/- to £l/15/-; boners, 10/- to £1 2/6; grade service bulls, best, £5 to £7/5/-; others, £2/10/- to £4/15/-; yearling Jersey bulls, best, £4/4/to £6/6/-; others, £2 to £4; best yearling dairy heifers, £l/12/- to £1 17/-; others, £l/5/- to £l/10/-. Sheep: Shorn ewes, 14/-; woolly hoggets, 21/-. Pigs: Choppers made from £1 to £2/5/-, according to weight; heavy prime baconers, £3/3/- to £3/10/-; medium, £2/16/- to £3/2/-; light, £2/12/- to £2/15/-; heavy porkers, £2/6/- to £2/10/-; medium, £2 to £2/5/-; light and unfinished, £l/15/to £l/19/-; best stores, £l/10/- to £l/16/-; smaller, £l/6/- to £1 10/-; slips, £1 to £l/5/-; best weaners, 16/- to 21/-; others, 10/- to 15/-; sows' due to farrow, £2 to £3 6/-; sow with litter, £2/4/-; pedigree weaner Tamworth boars, 3gns.
