Cricketers Return.
WOODFULL TO RETIRE. RECORD TOUR RECEIPTS. (A. and N.Z. Cable) PERTH, Oct. 30. The majority of the members of the Australian ,test cricket team returned to Fremantle to-day by the Orontes. They received an ovation and much praise at civic receptions in Fremantle and Perth. The captain, Mr. W. M. Woodfull, announced his retirement from firstclass cricket. Mr. Harold Bushby, manager, said the remainder of the team appeared to be willing to carry on, so there was no need to worry over the prestige of Australian cricket in the next five years. Australia’s share in the receipts on the English tour reached the record sum of £30,000, which was augmented by £6OOO exchange. The players are agitating - for a share of the exchange, in addition to their allowances, which amounted to £62/10/- each, but the Board of Control does not intend to grant the request.
