HOLLYWOOD NOTES. NAVY AND WHITE FOR SPRING. Toby Wing, one of the smartest members of Paramount’s younger set, has chosen navy and white for a spring ensemble this year for street wear. When you see Miss Wing in Paramount’s “Kiss and Make Up,” with Cary Grant, you will certainly be attracted by this smart, serviceable
outfit. A sports jacket of blue with a blue and white checked skirt, has a navy hat and pumps in white and navy kid to complete the ensemble. This outfit should meet with considerable favour, particularly with business girls. HOLLYWOOD LEADS. DANISH STAR’S OPINION. “The world’s best-dressed women are in Hollywood.” This is the belief of Carl Brisson, Danish star of England’s stage and screen, now featured in Paramount’s “Murder at the Vanities.” “Hollywood, to my mind, has supplanted Paris as the fashion centre of the world,” Brisson said. “American women have the benefit of the most outstanding style creators. But irrespective of this marked advantage, they show exquisite taste in the selection of materials, which harmonise perfectly with their individual personalities—and, above all, they know how to wear clothes.” WHITE FOR SUMMER WEAR. Very feminine white summer dresses will lead the summer fashion parade at semi-formal functions. In Paramount’s “Kiss and Make Up,” with Cary Grant, Genevieve Tobin is wearing a white chiffon frock with a pleated skirt. A long tunic of knee-length is belted in black velvet which also fashions her broad-brim-med hat and gauntlet gloves. Across the forehead, a bandeau of whito flowers adds flattery and she wears two ropes of pearls which have been brought back into the spotlight by the Cleopatra influence in styles. FLOWERS BANISH HAIR JEWELS One of the most amusing new fads, in Evelyn Venazle’s opinion, is the use of real flowers in one’s hair instead of jewelled diadems. In Paramount’s “Double Door,” Miss Venable creates an enchanting picture with this very feminine touch to her interesting and original coiffure.
