THE DRUIDS’ SHIELD. WON BY TE AROHA. YESTERDAY’S TOURNAMENT. The first tournament for. the Dominion Lodge Indoor BoAvling Challenge Shield among Druids’ Lodges in the district Avas held in the Druids’ Hall, Rolleston Street, yesterday. There Avas keen competition, and some good play was witnessed. Te Aroha B Avon the shield, defeating Thames Ain the final. Scores: First round: Te Aroha B 18, beat Te Aroha A 13; Thames A 17 beat Thames B 9; Waihi a bye. Second round: Thames A 17 beat Te Aroha A 15; Waihi 16 beat Thames B 13; Te Aroha B a bye. Third round: Te Aroha B 33 beat Thames B 10; Waihi 19 beat Thames A 18, after an extra head; Te Aroha A a bye.
Fourth round: Te Aroha A 19 beat Waihi 8; Thames A 27 beat Te Aroha B 10; Thames B a bye. Fifth round: Thames B 21 beat Te Aroha A 12; Te Aroha B 18 beat Waihi 14; Thames A a bye. Final: Te Aroha B 30 beat Thames A 18. The teams were:— Te Aroha B. —Mrs. G. Death, W. CraAvford, W. A. Redfern, W. G. Barclay (s). Thames A. —A. Knox, C. Billing, J. Hays, W. Gordon (s). In presenting the Shield to Bro. Barclay, P.A. Bro. R. M. Rhodes congratulated the Te Aroha Lodge on its victory, and especially complimented the team’s lead, Mrs. Death, for her splendid and consistent bowling. Bro. Barclay responded, and cheers were exchanged.
