At the end of, the day’s play Australia was leading by three rubbers, seven sets, 65 games, to one rubber, five sets, 51 games. The results were: — Singles: Quist (Australia) defeated Wilde, 4 —6, 6 —l, 6 —3; McGrath (Australia) defeated Hughe's, 6 —2, 6 —2; Hopman (Australia) defeated Lee, 4 —6, 6 —l, 7—5. . Doubles: Perry and Wilde (England) defeated Crawford and McGrath, 10 —8, 6—3, 3—6, 6—3. The best match of the day was that between Hopman and Lee.
