At the King’s.

“THE MIRACLE WOMAN.”

FINALLY TO-NIGHT

Barbara Stanwyck, Beryl Mercer and David Manners will finally appear at the King’s to-night in the daring, expose, “The Miracle Woman.”

“GIRL OF THE RIO” TO-MORROW

MATINEE AT 2.30

After an absence of two years owing to illness, Dolores Del Rio returns triumphantly to the screen in a glamorous role. The star makes her belated celluloid appearance at the King’s to-morrow in RKO-Radio Pictures’ “Girl of the Rio.” Featured with her is Leo Carrillo, rapidly becoming an outstanding screen star. Miss Del Rio’s re-appearance is a fortuitous one in that she selected a story which affords in plot structure, atmosphere and treatment a fit setting for her rare talents as an actess. She plays the role of “The Dove,” who is forced by circumstances to dance and sing in a riotous cafe just across the border from the United States. As in real cafes of this type, notably in Tia Juana, Juarez and Mexicali, there are scores of interesting types, Mexicans, Chinese, men on a spree, commission gix-ls, and the ever-present, soft-spoken gamblers. Dramatically, Miss Del Rio portrays what critics have, declared to be the best starring role of her career, combining the poetic beauty of her work in “Ramona” and “Evangeline” with the vivacity and movement of “What Price Glory?” TWO PICTURES AND J.C.W. VAUDEVILLE ON SATURDAY. AFTERNOON AND EVENING. A ; triple-star programme at the King’s on Saturday—and look at it! On the stage: the great Kodama, Japanese entertainer and foot juggler, late of J. C. Williamson circuits. Mr Kodama has notified the management that his performing bear is indisposed, and will be unable to travel. On the silversheet are two outstanding pictures: Bill Boyd in "Tho Suicide Fleet,” and Mae Clarke in “3 Wise Girls.” Be advised; book your seat.
