VALEDICTORY.

MR. AND MRS. FLETT FARE WELLED.

Having disposed of their "interest in the Royal Hotel, which they have conducted for some years, Mr and Mrs C. W. S. Flett were the recipients of a handsome token of esie >!:! from a large gathering of friends on Saturday evening last. Mr E. .McDonald, in making the presentation on behalf of those present, expressed regret that Mr and Mrs Flett were leaving Thames, where they had made themselves extremely popular, and he hoped they ,-would enjoy their well-earned rest. Since taking over the Royal Hotel some years ago Mr and Mrs Flett had kept up the high standard of tho hotel, and made the Royal one of the most popular hostelries in Thames. While paying strict attention to their business, Mr Flett had also given much public service, having served for some years on the Thames Hospital Board, while Mrs Flett has been a hard worker for all church, philanthropic and other worthy objects. The toast of "Mr and Mrs Flett" was duly honoured, with cheers. Mr Flett, in returning thanks for the presentation, said that both Mrs Flett and himself regretted parting from so many friends. Ho sincerely trusted that more prosperous times would soon return to Thames, and that his large circle of friends would enjoy good health and happiness for many years to come. He concluded by asking them to give his successors, Mr and Mrs Caudwell, all the support they could.

Mr and Mrs Flett and family left for Auckland yesterday morning, and will reside at Epsom for sonic time. • ;
