WESTPORT DISPUTE.
SIGNS OF SETTLEMENT.
TROUBLE OVER TRIBUTERS. ENCOURAGING TELEGRAM. ißy Telegraph—Press Association.) WESTPORT, July 17. There is every likelihood of the dispute over tribute coal being settled in the next 24 hours. The Alliance of Labour wired Mr D. Hayward, President of the District Meiers' Council, advising him that the Alliance has instructed the watersiders to lift the embargo on the Charming Creek and Cascade coals.
A conference was held yesterday of the Watersiders, Seamen and Miners' District Council to discuss the situation.
It it confidently expected that the dispute will be settled.
So far no intimation has been received by the Railway Department as to the latest move, but further information should be ava : lable when the conference adjourns.
