COMBINED FAREWELL.

TO DR. AND MRS. RAWSTRON. | AND MR AND MRS J. PATERSON. In spite of the dreadful weather conditions which prevailed last Wednesday evening l , July Bth, there was a good attendance of friends who met together in the Caledonian Hall to say farewell to Mr and Mrs Paterson and Dr and Mrs Rawstron. At intervals during the dancing, which former the greater portion of the programme for ithe evening, Miss P. Martin and Mr Hawley rendered solos, which were much appreciated by the assemblage. Mr E. Denize spoke with regret of the loss to the community of Dr and Mrs Rawstron and Mr and Mrs Paterson, and presented each with an envelope as a small token of esteem. Dr Rawstron apologised for Mrs Rawstron, who was unavoidably absent owing to health reasons, and thanked Mr Denize and all present for what had been said of them. Mr W. S. Cook, on behalf of Mrs Paterson, who was present, and Mr Paterson, who had wired his apolo- | gies for his absence on business, replied, and thanked all for their kind thoughts and words of farewell. Dr and Mrs Rawstron left in their car for Auckland on Thursday morning, where Mrs Rawstron will stay during the doctor's absence of 18 months in London. Mr Paterson will leave with his family to take over his new business at Te Puke on August 1.
