TE AROHA JUBILEE.

AN INTERESTING BOOK. TO CELEBRATE EVENT. Through the courtesy of the editor or' the Te Aroha. News, we are in receipt of "Te Aroha and the Fortunate Valley," a booklet of some 350 pages, issued to commemorate the town's fiftieth birthday. The. whole of the work has been done at the "News" Office, and although there is a- foreword stating that the job Ims been rushed through, there is no evidence of haste, and the result is worthy of a big office. Some very valuable information is collected between the covers of the publication. The geological history of the Thames Valley, its agricultural deveopment, the pioneer missionaries, water and rail transport, with the usual roading problems are all dealt with*. Electricity land afforestation have each, a chapter, while the dairying industry worthily earns a prominent place. The historv of the opening of the goldfield is .ably told by 31 r. A. H. Kimball, Under-Secretary of Mines. A most interesting feature ie a. round of visits of the towns of the

Valey right from Mataanata to Thames, while the Thames Coast forms a special article enthusiastically written. Te Aroha can be well satisfied with its'-jubilee souvenir and its compilers and publishers can be congratulated on an excellent publication.
