[LEAVES FOR MERCURY BAY. i i The Hon. W. B. Tavernei’, Minister of Railways and Commissioner -of State Forests, paid an unofficial visit to Thames yesterday and today. He arrived, in company with Mrs Taverner, by the afternoon train, .and was met at the station by Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., and Mr W. Bon,gard. Mayor of Thames. After a few minutes’ conversation an adjournment was made to .Messrs A. and G. Price’s, where the Ministerial party showed keen interest in all that was being done, .particularly the construction of the Whenuakura and Ngaruawahia
4’ailway bridges, and a huge oil eon.tainer for the Vacuum Oil Company, Atd.
A private talk on railway matters
:then took place between the Minis- ' rier and Mr Will Price, after which .the Minister went back to the Brian .Boru Hotel, where he stayed the might.
To-day the Minister will motofc as Tar as Manaia Hill, returning to '.|Tapu, where lunch will be partaken, 'the party then going to Mercury Bay by the new road. (Matters relating to the Forestry .Department will be gone into here, ;ftnd later Mr Taverner and his party will go to Tairua, Whangamata and jWaihi, rejoining the train at that Tpoirit. “
