SATURDAY’S RESULTS.
TURUA v. PATETONGA.
(Own Correspondent). TURUA, Dec. 11,
The Hauraki Plains Lawn Tennis Association’s inter-club competitioris were continued on Saturday last, when Turua visited Patetonga, with the result that after a close and interesting series of games Turua emerged the victors by 7 sets (71 games) to 3 sets (62 games). Following are the details, Turua names being mentioned first: Men’s Singles.—Dr Miller beat M. O’Connor, 9—5; F. C. Robinson beat V. O’Connor, 9—7; A. McConnell beat J. Duffy, 9—B; H. Griffiths beat J. Hedley, 9 —7.
Men’s Doubles.—Miller' and Robinson beat O’Connor brothers, 9 5; Scott and' F. Griffiths lost to Blufhmer and Shirley, 6 —9.
Ladies’ Singles.—Miss A. Dixon lost to Miss Barbara Duffy, 5— 7; Miss I. Griffiths beat Miss Beth Duffy, "7 5. Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses Dixon and Griffiths beat Misses Duffy, 7 2; Mrs Scott and Miss L. Green lost to Misses Pulman and Hunter, I—7.
Owing to rain the second men’s doubles and combined doubles’ matches were not played.
The Patetonga “B” team journeyed to. Turua to play, but owing to heavy vain the match was postponed after a few games.,had been nlaved.
