Wine for the Pope. To mark the settlement of the Roman question in Italy, pilgrims are adopting a novel plan. As part of their religious offerings, pilgrims bring with them wine to stook the Vatican cellars. An example was set when 3000 pilgrims from Frascati each brought a bottle, of the choicest amber-coloured wine'—a product of the \v6rld-famqus vineyards; of that section of Italy known as "Castelli Romani." A similar offering was made when 5000 ex-servicemen from the alpine regions during their pilgrimage to Rome presented the Pope with a barrel of the famous Piedmont" wine known as "Baroloun." It is stated that these two examples will be followed, by Catholic communitieis of various parts of Italy, each, vying with others in furnishing the best their vineyards can afford. Devout Sicilians are preparing stocks of the famous Moscato, produced in. the region around Syracuse, Neapolitans are expected to provide an offering of "Lacrymae Christi," a brand of wine which every tourist knows. The faithful of Tuscany, too, are preparing special stocks of Chianti and various flavours of wines of Orvieto, also, destined &$. the. y ßt *
