At a meeting of the Nelson Fireblight' Committee the opinion was expressed that real source of danger was , to be found in the possibility of private individuals bringing cuttings of trees, shrubs, or plants from fireblight affected areas in their personal luggage. In’ view of the fact that it might not be generally known . that it was against the Government regulations to bring trees, shrubs, plants, or., cuttings from the North Island without a permit... it was decided to take steps to make the fact more generally known, and thus j lessen the danger of fireblight being introduced into the district.
