CITY CRICKET CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING HELD. PROSPECTS FOR THE SEASON. :■ WISH FOR AWAY MATCHES. The City Cricket Club held its annual meeting last evening, Mr Craw-ford-Watson presiding, in Mr E. ■O. Brownlee's office. Referring to the past season, the*; chairman condoled with the club in the loss of their president, Mr Adam Wilson, but expressed the club's pleasure at his promotion. Generally speaking, the season had been one of the most successful in the history of the club. Starting with only a ton team a few years ago the club had gradually increased its strength until it had been successful in win- ? ning the Association's competition, a.; fact upon which the club was to be congratulated.
The season just past had seen the formation of the Thames-Hauraki; Cricket Association, and this would; go a considerable way towards fos-v tering community intei-est between; the Plains' clubs and Thames. On the motion of Messrs Morrissey and Gibson, it was decided that the; Thames Cricket Sub-Association be asked to permit the first match a play-off for the Crawford-Watson Cup between City, the winners of the Thames Sub-Association's competition, and Kopuarahi, winners of-the Hauraki plains Cricket Sub-Associa-tion competition.
