Margaret and Pauline Shaw enter- -j tained a few of their friends to tea .. ofi Thursday last. There were present: D. Bryan, M. Price, A. and B. Blacky N. Miller, J. Court, J. Foulgrain, E. McCullough and N. Cooke. Competitions were the f order of the" ■ evening, the senior one' being won by Joan Court and the jqnior by Nola h Miller. Others were won by Joan ‘Court and;Nancy Cooke. On Thursday afternoon Mrs F. S. Miller gave a bridge afternoon for her < guest, Miss Macdonald. There were present: Miss Macdonald, Mrs B. Watson, Mrs E. (J. Clendon,'Mrs C. B. Lockett, Mrs M. V. Boles, Mrs C. Read and Mrs A. Bryan. The prize" was won by Mrs E. Watson. On, Friday evening, Mrs F. S. Mil- : ler a three-table bridge for her guest, Miss Macdonald, there being ', present: Mr and Mrs B. >B. Clendon,' Mr and Mrs Cl J. Garland, Mr and Mrs Shaw, Mrs C. Read, Mr and Mrs , M. V. Boles, and Mr A: E. L. Dodd. The prizes were won by Mrs C. Read and Mr’C. J. Garland.

■Mr and Mrs C: R. Cooke gave a. musical evening on Saturday to Mr\ and Mrs J. E. Anderson. There were present: Mr . and Mrs J. E. Anderson, Mrs Bennett (Te Puke), Dr and Mrs Liggins, Mrs E. J. Clendon, Mrs (Dr) Sowerby, Mr and Mrs W. H. Hoult, . Mr and Mrs D. Black and Miss P. Cooke.
