MEETING OF COMMITTEE,

WINDING-UP COMPETITIONS

The weekly meeting of the Management committee of the Thames Rugby Union was held last evening. Present: Messrs J. W. Arbury (chair), R. M. Rhodes, >H. Moyle, H. G. Murray, L. Sutcliffe, J. Spraggon, P. Vedder; delegates, A. Delamore (C?!i'ty), L. Crawford-Waston (Mercury Bay) and E. O. Brownlee (secretary). Team’s Good Conduct.

Mr Smith, of the Star and Garter Hotel, Coromandel, wrote paying a tribute to the conduct of the Thames B team on their visit there. Paeroa Pulls Out.

The Paeroa Rugby Union wrote stating that they were unable to fulfil challenges for either the Birch or Johnston Cups, and stating their intention of abandoning all home-and-home matches. The letter was received. The ' Auckland Visit.

In connection with the Auckland visit, the chairman reported upon the entertainment of the Auckland team and the general conduct of the day that it had been very satisfactory. The Auckland team had expressed pleasure. ' ' Auckland Third-Grade Coming.

A ring was recSived from the Auckland Rugby Union to state that the Auckland third-grade reps, would visit Thames to play the Thames juniors on Saturday. i'

Mr Crawford-Watson asked if any further information had been received from the selector as to the visit of the third-grade reps, to Mercury Bay. The secretary said that no answer had been received from the selector.

Mr Crawford-Watson said that this was inconveniencing his Union, as they wished to arrange their fixtures.

The chairman agreed to get in touch with the selector.

In answer to Mr Rhodes, Mr Craw-ford-Watson said that the Mercury Bay team to play both the P.T. thirds or the third-grade reps, would not include any players over 11 stone in weight.

V Eligibility of Players,

At the request of the secretary, the chairman ruled that it was not necessary for the Union to allot a player who had been registered "for 1 a club early in the season but who had not played so far. Formation of Sports’ Club. Mr Spraggon asked if a delegate could be appointed to attend a meeting to be called to consider the formation of an Amateur Athletic Club. It was agreed to appoint Mr Vedder. Fixtures for Saturday.

It was decided to wind up both the junior and third-grade competitions, P.T. being declared the l winners of the juniors, and the final of the, thirdgrade to be played off between High School and C.0.-B. '— - .
