Miss Elinore Margaret Durie, of Thames, was among the successful candidates for the State Maternity examination for nurses held on August 7 and 8, telegraphs our own correspondent.
. jv Mr Blennerhassett, accountant at the local branch of the Bapk of New Zealand, was urgently called to Wanganui on Sunday owing to his mother’s serious illness. He arrived in time io see her before her demise.
r Mr E. A. James, who for the .past 23 years has been actively associated with * the' Reform Party, for several years past in the capacity of the Dominion secretary of the Reform League, is'resigning his position, on account of inoreasing ill-health,, at the end of this month, i Mr James will be succeeded as Dominion secretary by Mr A. E. Mander, who “until recently was Workers’ Educational Association lecturer for Victoria University College.
