VALUES MAINTAINED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 14. Messrs A. Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report that to-day, at Westfield, their beef pens contained 219 head, comprising 125 steers and 94 cows and heifers, as compared with 213 last Wednesday. . There was spirited competition throughout, and last week’s sharp advance was maintanied. Extra choice ox sold to 44/- per 1001 b.; choice and prime, 41/- to 43/-; secondary and plain, 38/- to 40/-; prime young cow and heifer beef, 3S/to 42/-; secondary, 34/- to 37/-. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in prices from £l9 to £2O/5/-; heavy, £l7 to £lB/17/6; lighter, £ls to £l6/17/6; light, £l3 to £l4/17/6; unfinished and small, £lO/15/- to £l2/17/6. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £l3/15/- to £ls/2/6; heavy, £l2 to £l3/12/6;. lighter, £lO to £ll/17/6; other cows, £6/15/- to £9/15/-.
