MR. GAGE-BROWN’S GIFT. TROPHY FOR JUNIORS. MT. EDEN AND THAMES-HAURAKI The following letter has been received by the Thames-Hauraki Hoc-key Association from the Mt. Eden Hockey Club in respect to. the encouragement of junior hockey in the district.

The Thames-Hauraki Hockey Association bn; decided to accept the offer of an annual match and the first fixture will take place on Saturday, August 31st. when a Mt. Eden team will visit Thames.

- “Mr. W. P. Gage-Brown, who, is a vice-natron of our Club, and who, I believe, was for years president of the Thames Association, has presented to our Club . a handsome trophy for competition among our juniors.

“On talking the matter over, wo decided to offer it for annual competition between the Thames-Hauraki juniors and Mount Eden juniors.

“We suggest, if acceptable to, and by your Association, that the trophy be known as ‘The Gage-Brown Trophv,’ ‘and the conditions; "‘To ho played for annually between the Tlia.ines-Haura.bi Association juniors and the Mt. Eden juniors. Location of match to he mutually agreed upon each year.’

“Juniors eligible to play: ‘Juniors to ho under 20" years of age at date of mateh.’ “Mr. Gage-Brown is particularly keen to encourage the juniors and mv Club would indeed find it a great pleasure to have vour acceptance of this trophy on the aforementioned conditions if. you find came suitable to von.

“If you can accept our teams foi 4 the 31st. may T suggest" that . the trophy be nlavecl for on that date. “As scon as T hear from you, Mr. Gage-Brown will have, the trophy forwarded direct to you. *>o that, if yon cared, it could lie displayed ip some shor* window in Thames. ..

“The trophy is a massive silver figure of a hockey player, with stick, mounted on p, black pedestal. 'Mr. . Gaec-Brcwn is particularly keen for vour Association to accept the gift for annual competition, and mv Club are if Iso anxious to help your Association and to retain the good feclingy of pleasure and appreciation that we brought back with us from last season’s visit. “I shall he pleased to hear from vou at your earl icy t convenience and hone that this will meet with your approval.”
