EXPLOSION BURNS COTTAGE.
SENSATION AT CHRISTCHURCH,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 10.
Following a loud explosion at 9.15 last night, an unoccupied cottage in Estuary Road, Redcliffes, burst into flames. The building was a furnace before the neighboui’s could do anything. The noise of the explosion was heard over a wide area. The nature of the outbreak points to incendiarism.
A REWARD OFFERED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 10. In an endeavour to catch the incendiarist who has been doing so much damage in Christchurch, the Council of the Fire Underwriters’ Association and the State Fire Office have decided to offer a combined reward of £250 for information leading to the conviction of the offender. The offer of the reward is being made through the Police Department.
