RANFURLY SHIELD.
AIUCH INTEREST AROUSED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, Aug. 10.
Tremendous interest is being taken in the Ranfurly Shield match to he played between Auckland and Wairarapa to-dav. The weather at present is fine and a record crowd is expected.
So much enthusiasm has been aroused over the match that a special train is being run from Wellington, and it is anticipated 500 passengers will travel at special fares to view the match.
Although -the Auckland team liras not been definitely selected lti is generally thought its personnel will bethe same as that which plavecl against Waikato last Saturday, with the exception that L. Hook replaces Keene as rover.
Wairarana’.s chances of retaining the shield are favoured, but Auckland is considered a well-balanced side, canable of making a bold bid for the shield.
