ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A MINER KILLED
(Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON. July 29.
Samuel Broadbent was killed by a fall of coal while working in the Rotowaro Mine of the Taupiri Company on Friday night. Broadbent, was . a returned soldier aged 50, and was married with no children. His workmate, J O’Brien, escaped with bruises.
FOOTBALLERS’ MISHAP.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, July 29.
A car containing Coast footballers returning from the Nelson Shield match, met with a mishap yesterday near Iteefton. The car skidded over the bank of the river, caught in the trees, and overturned. The occupants were pinned underneath for ' several minutes. The petrol tank burst, but did not ignite. Mr Alan Adams, president of the New Zealand Rugby Union, fractured his hand. Nobody -else was injured.
