TRANSPORT BOARD.
ALTERATION REQUESTED,
(Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 8. The constitution of the new Transport Board was discussed at a conference of the North and South Island Motor Unions to-day. It was decided to ask that the constitution he amended as follows: —The chairman to he appointed by the Government, one representative each for the North and South Isand Motor Unions, the Counties’ Association, the Municipal As so_ ciation, the Now Zealand,Master Carriers, Omnibus and Service Car Proprietors’ (combined) Association, and the wholesale and retail motor trade. . It was further resolved that it be a recommendation to the Minister that each of the different bodies who aie to constitute the Advisory Board, be entitled to nominate a transport commissioner. A strong recommendation is to be made to tlie Minister of the motorists’ demands for a reduction 111 the heavy taxation on them.
