A SHOOTING AFFRAY.
ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER, (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 8. As the result of a shooting affray in! Green’s Road, Papanui, this morning, Frederick Richards (56), a labourer, has been arrested on the charge of attempting to murder John Armstrong (42). Armstrong is inow in hospital with a shot wound in his back and pellets in his head. He is expected to recover. The parties are said to have been neighbours. ; The police allege that Armstrong was shot after a quarrel, the cause of which is unknown. Neighbours heard the shot and rang for the police. Richardson made no attempt to evade arrest. Armstrong, who now lives in the city, was visiting Richardson’s house in Papanui when the affair occurred. The arrested man’s name is Richardson.
