Spurious Coins.
A number of counterfeit coins have been -circulated in Te. Awamutu during flie last few days. One shopkeeper had an aluminium' half-crown passed over, and a second business man received a sixpence of the same metaf. Both coins were splendid imitations of the genuine article, except in regard to weight; so it behoves people to be wary in their dealings in silver.'
