A SUICIDE THREAT.

EX-MINISTER'S GESTURE. TURKISH CHAMBER SCENE. A very animated discussion took place in 'the National Assembly recenlty, when Ihsan Bey was called upon to explain his conduct whilst Minister of "Marine. A long ancf detailed report of the Various irregularities attributed to him was "read by the Parliamentary commission of inquiry, and Ihsan Bey was given a chance to defend himself before the House. The discussion developed into a fast and furious battle of accusations and refutations, andterminated after the deputies charged with malpractices had mutually described their ex-colleagues as adventurers. Ihsan Bey was worked up to\ such a pitch of exasperation by the gibes cast at him that, dramatically whipping his hand to his hip pocket, he shouted: "Do you want to see justice done by my committing suicide here before you?" According to one paper, it was subsequently established that his pocket contained no dangerous weaj>on. I A unanimous vote of the Assembly deprived, the ex-Minister of Parlia-

mentary immunity, and he is to be brought up for trial. During his crossexamination by the commission of inquiry his private and public life was subjected to minute investigation. The president of the commission even asked him his name and those of his father and mother.
