At the Supreme Court Lucy Charlottte Witty, a widow, claimed from the Southland County Council £ISOO damages for the death of her husband, who was struck by a motor-car driven by a servant of the Corporation, John Guy Dennison, who had since left the Dominion. Witty was cycling at night on his correct side of the road when he was run down, and the plaintiff contended that the damage to Dennison's car corresponded with what might be expected from such a collision.
