MANY ATTRACTIVE FEATURES.

POPULARITY ASSURED. BOON FOR DANCERS. An innovation in local Avinter entertainment, and one assured of much popularity and success, Avill shortly be commenced at Thames. The new venture Avill take the form of a cabaret, similar to “Dixieland,” Avhich has achieved immense popularity since its inception in Auckland. The promoter is Mr Alec Harris,, already Avell-knoAvn to readers of the Star as the mascot of the New Zealand Mounted Rifle Brigade during the Palestine campaign. Mr Harris has had considerable Australasian experience in the conduct of this form of • entertainment, and, having secured the necessary financial backing will be enabled to give his colourful imag-, ination full play in the designing of artistic interior decorative effects. It avas at first thought that the Central Hall Avould be available, but difficulties in the Avay of a lease proved insurmountable, 'and arrangements have noAV been finalised for a lease of St. George’s Hall. Attractive Features. There are many features about the proposed style of entertainment that Avill appeal strongly to Thames people. The hall Avill be fitted out as a cabaret, Avith a central dancing space, and tables and chairs in place of the usual uncomfortable Avooden forms. Patrons of the tables will have -their Avants attended to by smart servitors, who will bring a tastefully-served supper on request. The tAvo main features, however,' will be the orchestra and solo dancing. The orchestra will comprise three skilled Sydney musicians, each expert players of tAvo instruments. MrHarris is an accomplished dancer, and has engaged a partner for exhibition dancing. Lessons will be given ill modern dancing. Its biggest appeal to Thames people, Avill be an assurance' that the cabaret will be conducted on Clean and wholesome lines, and atten-_ . dants Avill be on duty to see that the l’Ules of the establishment are strictly observed. A charge Avill be made for tables, and loitering at the doors will not be permitted. Opening. A special invitation opening night is being planned on an elaborate scale, details of Avhich Avill be announced in due course. The haD, orchestra and appointments will be available for dances, private or otherwise. Those Avishing to engage the hall should approach Mr Harris, Avho will undertake to manage and conduct dances, thus relieving promoters of Avorrying detail always consequent on the successful running of such functions.
