THE RAMBLERS’ CLUB.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

RENEWED INTEREST IN GAME. A notice that the annual general meeting of the Ramblers Football Club would be held in the Puriri Hall on the night of March Oth had the effect of bringing together a very encouraging number of old and young sports, all ke.en on the welfare of the club. Ramblers Club, winners of the White Shield and Knock-Out Cun during the past season, take this interest as a good omen for their success this year. Mr. E. Elliot was in the chair, and Mr. Laurent, last year’s energetic secretary, presented a very gratifying report, recalling the victories of the team and, the enjoyable “smoker” of last year. A balance-sheet was presented, showing, after a very full season. a Useful credit balance. The meeting then regretfully accepted the resignation of the Secretary, Mr. Laurent explaining his probable inability this season to follow the game as closely as in the past. Mr. Valentine. Mr. C. W. Winder and the Chairman eulogised the work done by the late Secretary in the field, in social work connected with the club, and in his official capacity. Officers for the new year were then elected. Mr. Birdsall was unanimously elected secretary, and 'Mr. E. Elliot was returned to his position as President, amid acclamation, receiving many commendations for enthusiasm andsupport in aH matters pertaining to Ramblers. Mr. W. H. Cryer was reelected Patron, Mr. Laurent speaking of Mr. Cryer’s generous grant of a playing area for the use of the club. The matter of a senior selector was discussed, but left in abeyance. Mr. W. Dynes was again elected to place the juniors in their positions. Messrs. A. O’Hara, E. Clark, A. McCollum, A. Laurent and the Secretary were elected to form a management committee; while Mr. Dynes, Mr. Jones (subject to approval) and the junior captain were elected to form a committee to arrange for practices, coaching, grounds and matches for the juniors. Messrs. F. Clark and A.’ O'Hara were ogqjn appointed delegates for the club. ■••'-■'

Mr. Elliot proposed, and Mr. Valentine seconded, that Mr. Denize he asked to represent the club on the Thames Union.

A social committee was formed, general business discussed, and then a very harmonious and enthusiastic meeting was brought to a close by a vote of thanks to the Chairman and newlv-elected Secretary.

Mr. Elliot replied and thanked the meeting for its attendance ahd support.
