QUEEN’S THEATRE. “The Sunset Trail,” Universal’s picturisation of a western wasteland romance adapted from Henry Knibbs’ noted novel, “Overland Red,” comes to the Queen’s Theatre to-night. William Desmond, popular favourite of the screen for. years, and Gareth Hughes, leading man of many big specials, are featured. Henry Herbert Knibbs has written many stories of the outdoors, and his tales of the West are people by characters of genuine human type. In the casting of the picture Ernst Laemmle, chosen to direct, selected Desmond, Hughes, Lucille Hutton, Albert J. Smith, William A. Steele, Clark Comstock, S. E. Jennings and others for the roles. “ARE YOU A MASON?” To-night (Monday) at the King’s Theatre, the famous J. C. Williamson comedy success, “Are You a Mason,” will be presented by Mr D. B. O’Connor'* and his new Musical Comedy Company. In this world-wide success a young husband accounts to his wife for his late hours by saying that he has joined a Masonic Lodge, and is kept late at the meetings. To give proof to his statement, he says: “Look here, dear, look at my legs; I’ve gone quite bandy through riding the blessed goat.” Complications set in when his father-in-law arrives on the* scene. Pa-in-law is reputed to be the Grand Master of a Masonic Lodge, and when the two relatives meet the fun starts in real earnest. Screamingly funny situations follow upon one another from this out in quick succession, more especially until the moment when each discovers the other is not a Mason at all. Many catchy songs and dances are introduced, and the whole .production is lavishly staged. Mr D. B. O'Connor plays the principal role, and he has a picked company of metropolitan artists in support, notably the Misses Doris George, Viola Rene, Dorrie Arnold, and Messrs. Eric V. Conway, Jack Mackenzie and Arthur Lord. The season of “Are You a Mason?” is strictly limited to one night. To-mor-row night Lee White’s exceptional Tivoli success, “The Girl for the Boy,” will be staged. The box plans for the season are now open at Chapman and Haynes’, and to ensure seats intending patrons are advised to reserve.
