THE CHURCHES.

The services at St. George’s Church to-morrow will be: 11 a.m., Mattins; 7 p.m., Evensong; 2.30 p.m., Sunday School. At St. John’s, 11 a.m., Mattins; at Kopu, 11 a.m., Mattins; at Puriri, 3 p.m.. Evensong. The services in St. James’ Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Rev. James Milne, M.A., who, at 11 a.m., preaches on "The Call of Levi,” and at 7 p.m. on “Magnanimity: Its Reward.”

The Sunday services at the Church of Christ will be conducted by Pastor Langford. His morning subject will be, “Copying the Divine Pattern.” The evening subject, by request, is “Chris-, tian Baptism: Its Claim upon the Believer.” Services will be' conducted tomorrow (D.V.) in the Baptist and Congregational Church, Mary Street, at 11 a.m. and G. 45 p.m. by the Rev. W. E. Lambert. The morning discourse will be based on Isaiah 63:1. At the evening service the pastor will speak on the liquor questlion, viz., “Should a Christian Vote for Continuance or State Control?” Divine service will be conducted at 3 p.m. in the Thornton’s Bay hall by the Rev. TV. E. Lambert. Sunday School anniversary, Sunday, November Ist.

In view of the approaching election, the Rev. A. . Ashcroft will devote the next two Sunday nights to subjects relating thereto. The first one is “The Christian of To-morrow,” and the second, “A Man’s Duty to Society.” The future promises many perplexing problems. Society is more or less unsettled. Sei’ious practices are creeping into our life. We are told in the public press that Avhat is -wanted is more religion. Come along. We shall be glad to see you. At the evening service Mr H. E. Woodhouse, of Palmerston North, will sing “The Lord is My Light.” Mr T. Mitchell will conduct the afternoon service at Matatoki.
