DISTRICT NOTES.
TAIURU. (From Our Correspondent.) Rumour lias it that Mr. T. W. Rhodes is preparing to build on a section of the Wilson estate. If so, Mr. Rhodes and family will be a welcome addition to our little community. The formation and gravelling of a portion of Robert Street is much appreciated by residents in its'vicinity. Half of the street was a quagmire, and impassable, and now it offers a useful approach to the beach. Last year the young people of the district improvised a tennis coiir’ in the school grounds, where many pleasant hours were spent This season they have set themselves with a will to level the ground and lay down a permanent asphalt court, which will' be a source of recreation and enjoyment for many, months of the year! Polling day approaches in peace and quietness. Polities are' seldom mentioned in conversation but one gets the impression that nothing sensational is- likelv to happen in the electorate, and it would not be a surprise if the country gives Ur. Coates the biggest majority accorded any leadef since the' days of Seddon.
