OBITUARY.

MR. ALFRED COURT. It is with regret that we have to record the death yesterday afternoon of Mr. Alfred Court, of Thames. The late Mr. Court was horn at Bradley Green, near Redditch, Worcestershire, in 1855. He was educated at Beckenham, where he was in business with a partner for two years, and afterwards with a brother for five years in Coleshill Street, Birmingham; but lie took over the last-named business on his own account in 1879, and conducted it till 1896, when he came to the Dominion and established the business in Pollen Street, Thames, which he personally conducted till a few year’s ago, his son, Mr. A. E. Court, then taking the management. For four years prior to coming to New Zealand the late Mr. Court was London buyer for the well-known firm of Court Bros., of Auckland. He was married in 1879 to a daughter of the late Mr. E. Pomfret, of Birmingham, and leaves a widow, one son (Mr. A. E. Court, of Thames), and one daughter (Mrs. Bartlett, of Auckland). He was a- brother of Mi - . John and Mr. Fred Court, of Auckland. Mr. Court was a foundation and honorary life member of the Thames Bowling Club, whose flag is now flynig at half-mast in his memory. He was also a member of the Thames Hospital Board some years ago. He was. a Mason of many years’ standing, being a member of the Corinthian Lodge, Thames.

The funeral takes place to-morrow afternoon.
