FIVE LARGE GROUPS.
GREAT SOLAR DISTURBANCES. VISIBLE TO NAKED EYE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 22. The Dominion Observatory reports the existence of five large and active sunspot groups. These groups stretch across the sun’s visible hemisphere on both sides of the Equator, indicating great disturbances in the solar sur face. The largest spot is at present very near the sun’s central meridian, and is visible to the naked eye if viewed through smoked glasses or some other protecting medium. This large group is in the sun’s southern hemisphere, its latitude being about 18 degrees.
