PRESIDENT COOLIDGE’S ADMISSION. The “Morning Post,” June 1, 1925. “President Coolidge, in liis Memorial Day address to-day, ipleaded for the better enforcement of the law and the universal observance of the Constitution of the American people. “He compared the crime record of the United States wiith that of Great Britain and older countries, saying that a recent survey which he had read showed that there were eight times as many murders in proportion to the population in the United States as there were in England, and five times as many as in France, while there were many times as many burglaries in America as in Great Britain.” Thus, on the evidence given by the President of the United States, it iS proved that a state of Prohibition is a state of increased crime and lawlessness. Prohibition does not destroy evil, it multiplies it.* 17
