ATTACK ON THREE MEN.
ONE STABBED TO DEATH. ANOTHER’S INJURIES SERIOUS. ATTACKER GIVES HIMSELF UP. (A. & N.Z. Cable.) BRISBANE, Feb. 26. While three men were walking through a cutting between Halifax and Macknade at night they were set upon by a man with a knife, who evidently had waited there. John Lawson received two severe stabs in the back and is not expected to recover. William Harriss received a deep stab in the chest and died shortly after. The condition of the third man is at present unknown. Both the injured men are enginedrivers, and the attack is said to he due to jealousy.
David Ballinghal, another enginedriver, gave himself up. to the police at Halifax soon after the occurrence.
