CLUB AND COUNCIL DII'FEB. (Press Association.) WELLINGTON September 12. The Wanganui Golf Club is conducting a championship meeting this month and has refused to adopt the New Zealand Council’s method of drawing for places the committee telegraphed *tvat : ing : it strongly resented the council’s action and contended that every competijfji'on should have equal treatment. The council held a special meeting and decided to adhere to its system and directed the club to vet accordingly. A covering letter objected to the tone and wording of the club’s objection and pointed out that the council bad lull cortrol and if it was to be exnored to such behaviour 'it might have to consider taking matters out of the club’s hands. The council further stated that the method of the draw was designed to give the really good competitors a proper chance. They had already yeiided to, the club that for financial reasons the number of entries had been extended, but it was well known that a number of these were poor players and they were not going to be allowed to jeopardise the chances of good men espeoi-dlly professionals.
