GRAPHIC INCIDENTS. - (Sun Cable.) SHANGHAI, .September i). In interviews with refugees from Osaka .they state that no description could do justice to the awful experiences in) Yokohama. Iw here the casualties allegedly number 80 per cent of the population. Hardly a wall is left standing and the place is literally choked with dead and debris. An American said that after the first shock the place was flat ana when the fire started it was hell let loose, ‘AVe rushed to the sea to escape burning and remained for hours there up to the neck in water God knows what thousands of poor devils! -suffered who- were maincd or pinned under the tumbled build ings..
Amongst some remarkable escapes was that of a foreign woman who was having a bath on the second storey of a house which collapsed except for the bathroom, thus enabling'her to get out of a window unclothed. A passing Japanese gave her .a kimono. Refugees agree that 30 seconds after the first shock Yokohama was levelled flat.
