o CLAUDELANDS STOCK SALE. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co. Ltd. report: — At Claudelands fortnightly sale of Thursday, August 16, there was a good entry of cattle)' including a full run of beef, amongst them some prime quality steers and extra good cows and heifers. Competition was spirited and resulted in one of the best sales experienced in these yards for sometime. Compared with the previous sale, beef was easily £1 10s to £2 10s per head better value.
Prime steers sold at from £lO/10 to £l2/2/; lighter weights £B/ 6/ to £lO/5/; small and unfinished but killable steers £6 to £7/1; extra prime fat cows and heifers £B/9/ to £B/14/ and £9; good cows £5/17/6 to £7/1/; other "killable cows 19s to 38s. The several pens of yearling heifers yarded were hard to quit, sales being made up to £2/10/ for Jersey Cross and 29s for .Shorthorn.
The entry of dariy stock was mostly poor quality and was not wanted except at store values. The few good sorts sold from £6/10/ to £9/5/. A small yarding of pigs sold well baconers to £4/15/; jlight ptorkers and unfinished, pigs 33s to £2/5/; weaners 265.
